The First Anglo-Mysore War (1767–1769) was fought between the British East India Company and Haider Ali, the ruler of Mysore. Haider Ali displayed remarkable military skill during the conflict, successfully capturing Mangalore in 1768 and advancing to the outskirts of Madras in 1769, which threatened the British stronghold.
